Weekly devotional: Empowered by the Holy Spirit, Rooted in Scripture

Scriptural focus: Judges 15:14-15

14 When he came into Lehi, the Philistines came shouting to meet him. And the Spirit of Jehovah rushed upon him, and the ropes that were on his arms became like flax when it burns in fire; and his bonds melted from off his hands.

15 And he found a fresh jawbone of an ass; and he stretched out his hand and took it, and struck a thousand men with it.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today, I want us to pause and reflect on a question that quietly challenges many of us in our walk with God: Are we truly building our lives on the unshakable foundation of Scripture, or are we letting experiences and feelings overshadow Gods Word?

Think about Samson for a moment. The Bible tells us that the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon him and he was empowered in ways that were miraculous. He even used a dead donkey’s jawbone to defeat a thousand enemies. That’s incredible! Yet, Samson also made choices that led to his downfall. He chose wrong companions, pursued fleeting pleasures, and mingled with a culture that pulled him away from God. In the end, his eyes and his strength were taken because he let the wrong influences dominate his heart.

Isn’t that a powerful reminder? Even when we are empowered by the Holy Spirit, the choices we make—who we sit with, what we indulge in, what we prioritize—determine whether we walk in true victory or stumble. King Saul experienced this too. The Spirit was with him, but his distractions, impatience, and poor choices destroyed his fellowship with God.

Things like pornography, alcohol, tobacco, hatred, and anything else that is not from the Lord God will destroy our spiritual growth. Even more, if we dwell in worldly pleasures while neglecting God, we risk losing the power of the Spirit in our lives. But there is hope. Just like Job, we can make a covenant with the Lord God—a commitment to honor Him, obey His Word, and live according to His principles. This covenant protects us from the influence of worldly pleasures and keeps our foundation firm.

Now, let us bring it home. Jesus Christ, our perfect example, never allowed anything to pull Him away from God’s will. Before He began His ministry, He prayed, fasted, and studied the Scriptures. The disciples did the same. They devoted themselves to prayer and Scripture in the upper room before they were filled with the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Their foundation was strong because it was rooted in obedience and Scripture.

So, here’s the challenge for us today: As Christians, we have accepted Jesus Christ, left the worldly ways behind, and embraced a new life. But the question is: will we make choices that honor God, or will we sit with the wrong influences, pursue the wrong pleasures, and let worldly culture shape our decisions? Ask yourself:

  • Is this thought, this action, this relationship rooted in Scripture?
  • Would Jesus Christ approve of it?
  • Is it pleasing in the eyes of our holy and righteous God?

Church, the Spirit empowers us, but He never replaces obedience. Obedience though is our choice, is still mandatory. Empowerment follows obedience and discipline. True victory comes when our lives are built on God’s Word, when our foundation is unshakable, and when we let the Spirit guide us through Scripture. That’s how we experience transformation, freedom, and eternal satisfaction.

So, today, let us encourage one another to stay rooted in the Word, to be empowered by the Spirit, and to separate from fleeting worldly pleasures. Let Samson’s story challenges us. Great power without the right foundation and choices can lead to downfall. But power combined with obedience, prayer, Scripture, and godly fellowship leads to true victory as children of the King of Kings.

Reflection for Today

Today, I’m reminded that true strength and victory come from a life rooted in God’s Word and guided by the Spirit. Just as Jesus prayed, fasted, and studied Scripture before His ministry, I need to prioritize time with God to build a strong foundation. I must examine my thoughts, actions, and relationships, asking if they honor God and align with His Word. The Spirit empowers me, but I am responsible for obedience and making choices that reflect His will. Samson’s story warns me that great potential without a godly foundation can lead to downfall. By seeking Scripture, prayer, and godly fellowship daily, I can experience true transformation and freedom. Today, I choose to stay rooted in God’s Word, to allow the Spirit to guide me, and to resist fleeting worldly pleasures.

Prayer

Our Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I come before You. Thank You for the Word, for the blood of Jesus Christ, and for the comfort of the Holy Spirit. Lord God, you made me in Your image. Help me to live in that image, to grow closer to You, and to be a light to those walking in darkness. Many times, I did not understand the value of what You have given me. Like the prodigal son, I have traded what is eternal for things that are temporary. Forgive me, Lord God, for not treasuring Your gifts. I know I am not worthy to be called Your child, but I give myself to You as a slave. Let me serve You faithfully all the days of my life, doing only what pleases You through Jesus Christ. Search me, Lord God. See if there is anything wrong in me. Lead me in Your ways – the everlasting ways, in Jesus Christ. Lord God, accept my tears, my heart, and my full surrender. Refine me, strengthen me, and make me a tool for Your glory, in Jesus Christ. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

This Week’s Takeaway

True strength comes from being rooted in God’s Word and guided by the Spirit. Obedience, prayer, and godly fellowship are essential for making choices that honor God. Without a solid foundation, even great potential can lead to downfall, but with it, we experience true victory and transformation.

Weekly Devotional: Who is your family?

Scripture Focus: Judges 15:10-13

12 And they said to him, we have come down to bind you up so that we can deliver you into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said to them, swear to me that you will not fall upon me yourselves. And they spoke to him, saying,

13 No, we will only bind you and deliver you into their hand, but we certainly will not put you to death. And they bound him with two new ropes and brought him up from the rock.”

Dear Church,

Greetings to you in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Let me ask you something—have you ever felt restricted, misunderstood, or even held back by your own family or the people closest to you? You’re not alone. Scripture shows us again and again that some of the deepest battles don’t come from strangers, but from within our own circles.

We see this clearly in the spirit behind the Chaldeans. In Scripture, the Chaldeans were not only an empire but a system of counterfeit wisdom—appearing learned, spiritual, and trustworthy, yet operating apart from the Lord God. They gained influence not just by force, but by infiltration, slowly reshaping loyalties and identities until the Lord God’s people were weakened from the inside. Babylon fell suddenly, without battle, revealing that hidden manipulation can be more dangerous than visible opposition.

Think about Samson. His life was marked by powerful victories, but also painful choices. When he aligned himself with the wrong relationships, those choices carried consequences—not just for him, but for the people around him. What’s striking is this: when the Philistines wanted to stop Samson, they didn’t attack him directly at first. Instead, they pressured the people of Judah—his own people. And Judah, living under Philistine rule and fear, chose to bind Samson and hand him over to the enemy.

This is an important place for us to pause and reflect. A true family stands with you when the enemy rises up—not when it’s convenient, but when it’s costly. When people are ruled by fear, flesh, or the world, they may speak kindly to you while things are calm. But when pressure comes, they may choose safety over faith and deliver you into the hands of the enemy. We see this pattern more than once. Even Jesus Christ was betrayed—not by a stranger, but by Judas, one of the twelve. Someone who walked closely with Him. Someone who looked loyal on the outside.

So let me ask you gently: Have you ever felt betrayed? Restricted? Handed over—emotionally, spiritually, or relationally—by people you trusted? Here is the good news. The Lord who goes before us, who straightens crooked paths, is inviting us to partner with Him. He does not ask us to fight these battles alone. When we walk with Him, He fights for us.

But He also calls us to make wise choices. We must invest our time and energy in finding the right family—a spiritual family that will stand with us when they are challenged, threatened, or pressured. A family that doesn’t abandon us when we make mistakes, but walks with us through the consequences, teaches us truth in love, and helps us grow into better decisions.

Let me be honest. There are many people who truly desire to make right choices—but they struggle because they’ve never experienced a healthy, godly family that nurtures freedom and faith.

So, dear church, as you read this, let’s turn the question inward: Will we be a family that binds people and hands them over to the enemy? Or will we be a family that stands, prays, teaches, restores, and fights together under the Lordship of Jesus Christ?

May the Lord help us choose well—and be the kind of family that reflects His heart.

Reflection for Today

Today we are reminded that some of life’s greatest battles come not from strangers, but from those closest to us. Scripture shows that fear and compromise can cause even familiar people to surrender God’s purposes for temporary safety. Like Samson, our strength is not only tested by enemies, but by the relationships we choose to trust. Yet the Lord God goes before us, straightening crooked paths and fighting for us when we walk in obedience. Even when betrayal comes, Jesus Christ understands, for He Himself was handed over by one who walked closely with Him. This truth calls us to seek and become a spiritual family that stands firm in faith rather than fear. Today, may we choose loyalty, wisdom, and love that reflect the heart of Christ.

Prayer

Oh Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I come before You.
First of all, I thank You for preserving me and for not leaving me alone when I made wrong choices and struggled with the consequences. Many times, I followed the principles of this world and expected my family to change, yet in Scripture You have given clear and perfect principles for family and relationships. Deliver my heart from worldly principles, and help me live according to the principles in Your Word. You are my true family, always willing to lead me into genuine fellowship, yet I have often turned away from Your direction for my own convenience. Thank You for Your loving warnings and correction. Help me to make right choices by sitting at the feet of Jesus Christ, walking with people of faith, and being strengthened for the battle against the devil and all evil. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

This week’s takeaway

Some of the greatest challenges we face come from within our closest circles, not from obvious enemies. Fear and compromise can cause people to choose safety over faith, even at the cost of God’s purpose. Jesus Christ calls us to walk wisely and surround ourselves with a spiritual family that stands firm under pressure.

Weekly Devotional: Forgetting to Say NO – Choosing the Lord God’s Truth Over False Identity

Scripture Focus: Number 13 & 14th chapters.

Dear Church of God,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! As we step into this new year, it’s natural to look for new promises, fresh beginnings, and ways to leave the pain and hurt of the past behind. But if we turn to the story in Numbers 13 & 14, we find a powerful lesson that can guide us into this year with clarity and courage.

The Lord God promised the Israelites the land of Canaan, but He did not send them according to their strength. He sent them according to what they could become if they trusted Him fully. Ten of the spies explored the land but returned with the wrong report. Not because the land lacked blessings, but because their minds and hearts were not aligned with the Lord God’s perspective. They let fear define their reality instead of holding on to the Lord God’s truth.

Here’s the thing: sometimes, we forget to say no to the wrong questions in our own lives. “Can I really do this?” or “Am I really enough?”—these are the questions that trap us in fear. Like the ten spies, we focus on our limitations instead of the Lord God’s promises. We have allowed ourselves to be shaped by false identities due to fear, the labels we have received, lies of the world, and the limitations placed on us by the enemy.

But there is hope. Jesus Christ invites us to discover the real us. He calls us out of fear, doubt, and false identity, into the freedom of who we truly are in Him. Instead of asking whether the Lord God’s promises are possible, we need to ask: Why is my mind not aligned with His truth? And then surrender to His renewing work.

Joshua and Caleb saw the same giants and walled cities as the other spies, but they chose to believe the Lord God’s Word over appearances. Their confidence was not in their strength but in the One who had already promised victory. When we align our minds with the Lord God’s truth, we are no longer defined by fear but by faith, and no longer shaped by lies but by the reality of Jesus Christ in us.

So, the question for this new year is: Will we agree with the false report of our fears, or will we step boldly into the identity Jesus Christ calls us to—our true selves, fully alive in Him? We forgot to say no to our limitations, forgetting that the promise came from the Creator of heaven and earth. Through Jesus Christ, we are purchased, redeemed, and entitled to inherit everything for the glory of the Lord God.

Let this year be the year we start saying no to fear, doubt, and limitation—and yes to the richness of the Lord God. See yourself as He sees you.

Daily Reflection

Today, remember that the Lord God’s promises are bigger than your fears or limitations. Like the ten spies in Numbers 13 & 14, it is easy to let doubt and false identities shape how we see ourselves. But Jesus Christ calls you to step out of fear and discover your true self in Him. Joshua and Caleb chose to believe the Lord God’s Word over appearances, trusting His promises rather than their own strength. This new year, say no to fear, doubt, and limitation, and say yes to the fullness of life Jesus Christ has for you. Live not by what you feel or what the world says, but by the truth and promises of the Lord God.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before You with grateful hearts. We thank You for Your mercy, grace, and for preserving us from all kinds of dangers in the past year. We are truly thankful for Your providence and care. Thank You for comforting us with Your love and for giving us the Holy Spirit to guide us in every need, so we may see Your glory and rejoice in the salvation You have provided. Lord, we pray for deliverance from the evil habit of believing the lies of this world and forgetting the blessings You have given in our lives. Strengthen us, Lord, and grant us Your grace, convict us, and bring awareness and lead us closer to You. May this prayer be acceptable in Your sight. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

This Week’s Takeaway

Trust the Lord God’s promises instead of letting fear or false identities define you. Jesus Christ calls you to step into your true self, fully alive in Him. Say no to doubt and limitation, and yes to the life and victory He has already promised.

Daily Devotional: Its Christmas

Scripture Focus: Isaiah 9:2 The people who walked in the darkness / Have seen a great light; / Upon those who dwell in the land of the shadow of death / Light has shined.”

Greetings to you all in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. This message may reach you a little after Christmas, but it is never too late to reflect on why we celebrate it. We often speak about the good news—that our Saviour Jesus Christ is born—and that is truly wonderful! But sometimes we miss an important question behind Christmas.

Why did Jesus Christ Come?

Throughout Scripture, the Lord God chose individuals, tribes, and nations not to exalt themselves, but to be a blessing to the world. Whenever this calling was turned into something selfish, destruction followed.

The birth of Jesus Christ is good news because He came to deliver us from sin and its consequences—but if we forget the purpose, what are we actually celebrating? God created Adam and Eve to be a blessing. He chose Abraham so that all nations might be blessed through him. Jesus Christ called His disciples to carry His light to the world. Even Zacchaeus, after meeting Jesus Christ, used his resources to uplift the needy, and salvation came to his house.

And think of Solomon: the temple he built was not only a sacred place for Israel, but it was designed to be a blessing to the nations. In Solomon’s prayer, he asks the Lord God to hear the cries of foreigners who would turn toward the temple—so that all people would know His name and fear Him. The very structure and purpose of the temple pointed to God’s desire to bless the world through His people. So, in the midst of Christmas celebration, kindly allow me to ask:

Will you choose to be a blessing?

Will you be able to make a choice not just to say, “I am blessed,” but to live in a way that shows the love of Jesus Christ to your family, neighbourhood, and nation. Let people around you see the beauty of the Saviour’s birth through your acts of kindness, generosity, and compassion. When David misused his position and sinned, the Lord God judged him because he became a hindrance instead of a light. But Jesus Christ came as the great transformative Light in a world filled with darkness and death.

May we reflect that light in this season and always. Let us display the eternal life we have received through Jesus Christ by blessing others. Let our celebrations not end with songs and decorations— but overflow into action, love, and service.

May the light of Jesus Christ shine through you today.

Reflection for today

Today we remember that Jesus Christ came not only to save us, but to make us a blessing to others. Throughout Scripture, God’s calling—from Adam and Eve, to Abraham, to Solomon’s temple, to the disciples—was always outward-focused, meant to shine His light to the world. Like Zacchaeus, true transformation shows itself through generosity and compassion. This Christmas season, may our faith move beyond words into action that reflects the heart of Jesus Christ. Let someone experience His love today because of you.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before You. Lord God, we thank You for Your providence, for Jesus Christ Your Son, His Word, and the Holy Spirit. Today we are grateful for the gift of Christmas, and even though it is one day on the calendar, we know it is a reality to be remembered daily. We confess that at times we become caught up in the worries and burdens of this world, forgetting to celebrate the way You desire. Thank You for giving us this moment to pause and reflect on the why of Christmas. Help us to be a blessing, deliver us from our depravity, and make us fruitful for Your kingdom. May Your light shine through us always. In Jesus Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

Daily Takeaway

Jesus Christ came with a purpose: to bring salvation and light to the world. God has always chosen His people to be a blessing, not just receivers of blessing. Like Solomon’s temple, our lives should draw others toward God. True celebration goes beyond tradition and becomes action. Let us show Christ through kindness, compassion, and love each day.

Weekly Devotional: God’s “Yes” and “Amen.”

Scripture Focus: 2 Corinthians 1:20 For as many promises of God as there are, in Him is the Yes; therefore, also through Him is the Amen to God, for glory through us to God.

Today, I would like to reflect with you the power and meaning of God’s promises from a new perspective. God’s promises are not uncertain or inconsistent. In Christ, His answer is certain — fully Yes. And when we respond with Amen, we are declaring, “Truly, so be it, let it be done.” Amen is our word of agreement, a seal of trust in God’s faithfulness. Here’s the subtle but powerful part of this above verse: all His Yes is in Him, all His Amen is through Him, and it’s all for the glory of God.

In Him — God’s promises are never scattered or partial. They are centered in Christ. Our hope, trust, and joy are all anchored in Him.

Through Him — God’s Amen isn’t just a statement; it’s active in our lives. He works through Christ to bring His promises to completion. The blessings, guidance, and transformation — all flow through Him.

To the glory of God — Everything God does, every Yes and Amen, ultimately point back to His glory. Our lives are the canvas on which His faithfulness is displayed.

Validation vs. Transformation
Too often, we pray hoping God will simply approve what we already want. We long for Him to nod and say, “Yes, go ahead.” But God’s heart is not just to validate our desires — it’s to transform us. His promises are about shaping us into the people He knows we need to be. Sometimes His Yes is not what makes us immediately happy; it’s what makes us truly good, what refines our character, and what draws us closer to Him.

Not Every Good Feeling is Good
Feelings are tricky. Proverbs 14:12 warns: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”What feels good isn’t always good. Our emotions can mislead us, but God’s Word is the steady unchanging truth. His Yes is rooted not in our fleeting desires, but in the perfect wisdom of His providence.

Scripture as God’s Providence
Every word of Scripture is breathed by God (2 Timothy 3:16). Every promise is intentional, every truth alive and active. Isaiah 55:11 reminds us: His Word “shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose.” God’s Yes is found in His promises, and through them, He accomplishes lasting good in our lives — even when we don’t fully understand it.

A Soul Transformed by God’s Yes
Here’s the reality: our souls cannot fully grasp God’s Yes because we live in a fleshly, limited state. His “Amen” does not always give immediate pleasure; sometimes it feels like discipline or correction. Yet, this is exactly what our souls need. The Lord’s agreement is meant to free us from our destructive desires, to turn our longing away from what harms us, and to lead us into lasting joy. When God says Yes, it’s not about indulgence — it’s about redemption, transformation, and true delight in Him.

So today, let’s rest in the certainty of God’s promises. Let us say Amen with faith, trusting that His Yes is perfect, even when we cannot yet see its full effect. Our joy comes not from the fleeting satisfaction of the flesh, but from a soul aligned with the God who is always faithful, always good, and whose promises never fail. God’s Yes isn’t just approval — it is a life-giving soul-deep transformation. Amen to that.

Daily reflection

God’s promises are never uncertain. In Christ, every promise is a firm Yes, and when we respond with Amen, we are agreeing with God’s faithful plan. His Yes is not just approval of our desires, but a transformative work that shapes our hearts, redirects our longings, and leads us into true joy. Even when it feels like correction or discipline, God’s Amen works through Christ for our good and for His glory. Today, let us trust His perfect Yes, say Amen in faith, and rest in the certainty of His unchanging promises.

Prayer

Our Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before You. You loved us so deeply that You gave Your only begotten Son for our salvation. That is the measure of value You place on us. Yet many times we fail to understand that worth, lowering ourselves below the standard You intended for us. Though we are sinners, You call us precious; though we are unworthy, You still choose us. Today, we humble ourselves before You so that we may truly rejoice in Your providence. You are the fullness of love, peace, and joy. Let the joy of salvation continually rest in our lives, rather than the temporary pleasures of this world. Revive us, Lord. Help us to taste and see that You are good. Deliver us from every deception and accusation that rises against us. In Jesus Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

Daily Takeaway

God’s promises in Christ are a firm Yes, and our Amen is our trust in His faithfulness. His Yes does not just satisfy our fleeting desires, but transforms us, guiding us toward true joy. Even when it feels like correction, God’s Amen works for our good and His glory. Therefore, I invite you today to rest in His unchanging promises.

Daily Devotional: What is meant by the protection of God?

Scripture Focus: Psalms 121:8 Jehovah will keep you from all evil; / He will keep your soul.

You know how people say, “God will protect us” — and then life still hurts? We lose people, we face battles, we see evil in the world. It makes us wonder, “So what does God actually protect us from?” When you slow down and look at Scripture, it really comes down to three things: death, the devil, and evil.

Firstly, most of us see death as the worst thing that could happen. But for someone who belongs to Jesus, death is not the end — it’s actually a doorway. Jesus died and rose again, which means death does not get the final word anymore. Sure, everyone will face it someday, but if you’re in Christ, you don’t have to be terrified of it. God may not always keep us from dying physically, but He protects us from the fear of it. We get to say, “Death is’nt defeat — it’s going home.” That’s huge.

Secondly, Jesus did not just conquer death alone, He defeated the devil too. Sometimes we give the enemy way too much power in our minds. When we feel tempted, confused, or spiritually attacked, we can stand firm and say, “I belong to Jesus — I’m covered by His blood.” The enemy hates that. He only gains ground when we hand it to him through doubt or fear. Satan is already defeated — like a snake with no bite. We resist him, not by being strong in ourselves, but by remembering who we belong to.

Thirdly, evil isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s the quiet emptiness we feel when we drift from Jesus — even a little. But here’s the good part: we’re never stuck there. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. When we hold onto Him, light pushes back the darkness. Protecting the soul isn’t about fighting with anger or revenge; it’s more like saying “no” to lies and choosing God’s truth instead. Think about Daniel. Think about Joseph. They didn’t fight back with bitterness — they trusted God in their unfair seasons. And in time, God lifted them up. That same God watches over you right now. He’s strong enough to protect your soul — He just invites you to walk with Him. So when darkness whispers? Just don’t agree with it. Turn your eyes back to Jesus and let Him carry the weight.

Today’s Reflection

Life can be uncertain, heavy, and unpredictable — but God’s protection goes deeper than we often realize. He doesn’t just shield our bodies; He guards our souls. In Christ, death isn’t the end, the devil isn’t in charge, and evil doesn’t get to win. Maybe life isn’t perfect right now. Maybe you’re carrying questions, fears, or battles no one sees. But you are not unprotected. You are not alone. God is closer than the fear, stronger than the enemy, and brighter than the darkness.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before You with humble hearts. Too often, we forget to be thankful for the protection You give, the safeguard of our souls, and the eternal life You promise. We get caught up in our sickness, struggles, and distractions of this world, and we fail to recognize Your care and kindness. Yet even when life is hard, You remain faithful. Just as You prayed for Peter’s faith not to fail, we ask You to strengthen our faith, guard our hearts, and help us trust fully in Your authority and Lordship. Keep us close to You, Lord, and let Your Spirit guide and protect us. In Jesus’s name, we pray and submit. Amen.

Take away

God’s protection does not always mean life will be easy — but it means our soul is safe in Him. Death can’t end us, the devil can’t claim us, and evil can’t overcome the light we carry in Christ. Stay close to Jesus today and let His presence be your peace.

Daily Devotional: Beware of the Scammers

Family, can I be real with you for a minute? An incident this week really shook me. Someone created a fake facebook account pretending to be me and even went as far as asking people for money. And heartbreakingly, many were deceived. When I woke up, checked my messages, and saw what happened, my heart just dropped. You probably know that feeling—Why is this happening? Why do people fall for this stuff? Then, a brother made a comment that honestly pushed me straight into prayer and reflection. Out of that moment came this devotional I want to share with you.

Here’s the truth: scammers don’t show up with horns and a pitchfork. If only they did, then we’d spot them instantly. But just like the enemy, they come wrapped in something that resembles light—something that looks right, sounds right, and feels almost trustworthy. Scripture tells us the enemy disguises himself as an angel of light; not the true, brilliant light of God, but a dim imitation—just enough to deceive an unguarded heart.

So why do we fall for it sometimes? Not because we’re foolish. Not because we’re careless. But, often our closeness with Jesus is not as deep, steady, or active as it could be in that moment. We see this all the way back in Eden. God created a garden where Adam and Eve could walk with Him in daily intimacy. But when deception came dressed up as “knowledge,” they didn’t lean on that closeness. The serpent basically said, “This will make your life better.” Sound familiar?

The world still whispers the same lines: “Come here—this will improve your life.” “Try this—this is what you’ve been missing.” “This is real wisdom.” But Jesus calls us to a completely different path. He says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Often, we try to substitute an intimate relationship with God with religious activities such as giving offerings, tithing, reading Scripture, praying ritualistically, or attending church services and gospel meetings. We do these things because they seem to offer us emotional comfort. Ironically, these very practices can become the avenues through which scammers gain access to a person’s life. This deception does not only show up in scams. It creeps in through temptations that promise comfort to the flesh—things like pornography, smoking, drinking, unchecked anger, bitterness, accusation, and all kinds of destructive habits. They come dressed as relief, pleasure, escape, or “just one more time,” but underneath they only want to chain the soul, not free it.

Family, this is the real invitation: Don’t chase the kind of “knowledge” that promises shortcuts to a better life. Chase Jesus Christ. Stay close to the Holy Spirit. Stay rooted in the gathering of believers, the body of Christ. Because, when we walk together, grow together, pray together, and stay in step with the Spirit, the kingdom of God becomes something we don’t just talk about, but we actually live it.

And, if you have been deceived, hurt, or misled recently, please hear me: don’t be ashamed. Let it draw you closer to God, not push you away. You have full access to deep intimacy with Jesus, which was bought and secured by His own blood. Let’s stay near the Light, His true Light, so that no dim imitation ever fools us again.

Reflection for Today:

Today, I am reminded that Jesus Christ has already triumphed over the devil and all his schemes on the cross of Calvary. Yet, even as believers, we sometimes fall into the enemy’s traps. Not because he is stronger, but because we are not consistently close to Jesus Christ. The world tempts us with promises of easy success, quick happiness, or secret knowledge, but these are distractions from His truth. Staying intimate with Jesus Christ and daily walking in His presence equips us to recognize deception and live in the victory He has won. Therefore, let us cling to Jesus Christ, who is our strength, our light, and our unshakable refuge.

Prayer:

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before You. You are the One who protects us from every trap and snare, and so often we forget to acknowledge or thank You for the countless times You have kept our lives from harm, destruction, and deception. You are always our guiding light, our rescuer, and our Savior. Help us find refuge under Your wings so we may be preserved and remain in the joy of salvation. And even when we pray or act without understanding, remember us in Your loving‑kindness and receive our surrender and keep us close. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.

Daily Takeaway:

Deception often appears attractive, trustworthy, or “light-filled,” but the enemy’s schemes can only succeed when our hearts are distant from Jesus Christ. Daily intimacy with Jesus Christ through prayer, Scripture, and fellowship sharpens our discernment, protects us from falsehood, and keeps us walking in the true Light. When tempted by shortcuts or promises of quick gain, pause, lean on Jesus, and stay rooted in His presence.

Daily Devotional: Your Efforts Matter, Not the Outcome.

Scripture Focus: Matthew 25:14-30

Have you ever paused to think what our schools, society, and families have taught us? Have they taught us to be committed or to be perfect? Have they taught us to be principled or to be successful? Look closely at these questions. There is a big difference in the words I have used. Being committed is vastly different from being perfect. Being successful is not the same as being principled. Now, ask yourself which of these you actually prefer. Do you prefer commitment and principles or perfection and success? I am pretty sure most of you are clear on your answers. Now, ask yourself, “What does the Scripture advise regarding this?” and the answer will be clearer. 1 Samuel 16:7 But Jehovah said to Samuel, do not regard his appearance and the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For it is not how man sees that matters; for man looks on the outward appearance, but Jehovah looks on the heart.

Consider the parable of talents in Matthew 25:14-30. Two men traded the talents they had, whereas one was idle. Note verse 27. The master does not rebuke the third man for not trading or multiplying the talents into more money. He says that the least the man could have done is deposit it. He is not addressing the profit generated but the lack of interest in the man to do anything with the talent. In other words, he is angry that the man did not make any efforts and wanted to play it safe. God is chastising his wrong attitude rather than the amount of money he generated. Let us pause and ask ourselves this – often, do we do the right thing, or do we try to avoid problems and try to be blameless like the third man? Do we focus on our attitude or performance?  2 Corinthians 8:12 For if the eagerness is there, it is acceptable according to whatever one has, not according to what he does not have.

Nowhere in the Scripture does God advise perfection and success. He only recommends commitment to Godly principles. He wants our hearts, not our perfection. Colossians 3: 23,24 Whatever you do, work from the soul as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as recompense. You serve the Lord Christ. Let us look at the perfect example, who is Jesus Christ. His outcome was a failure on this earth. He did not live long, He was crucified publicly as a traitor and a blasphemer, He was forsaken, and was mocked and cursed. However, He worked from His heart and soul for the truth, until His death. He did not focus on the public’s feedback but on His commitment to do good. Don’t you think we do the exact opposite?

We often focus on our perfection and performance capabilities and end up failing because we forget that we serve God and not man even in every earthly task we do. We believe that being a good Christian, parent, child, or employee means always producing the best results. It is the opposite. The heart with which we do things matters to God. When the basis for our methodologies and ways is rooted in Him, He will be the master over our weaknesses. Effort and commitment are our job, and producing results is His job. Jesus’s commitment produced eternal rewards, not a worldly one. Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might; for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, where you are going.

Reflection for Today:

What truly gets graded in the sight of God – my character or my performance? Do I take pleasure in my full-hearted efforts or my perfect actions? What satisfies me – doing what is right or getting a good name? Do I serve Jesus Christ or my reputation?

Prayer:

Our Father in Heaven, we are mostly focused on our success and perfection. We always want to be right. We always seek validation and approval from fellow colleagues, bosses, believers, and family members. We have forgotten that you want us to work from our souls unto You. Help us to remember that all the prophets, judges, and your disciples had weaknesses. No one was perfect. You never rebuked them for their imperfections. You rebuked their stubbornness but honored their repentance. Today, we ask you to soften our hearts to accept our weaknesses and to work on our commitment rather than perfection. We ask you to help us focus on doing the good thing no matter the outcome. When we focus on our weaknesses, help us to understand that You did not ask us to be perfect but to only be with You. We ask this in the matchless name of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Daily Takeaway:

1 Corinthians 3:6,7 I planted, Apollos watered, but God caused the growth. So then neither is he who plants anything nor he who waters, but God who causes the growth. Perfection is a worldly parameter that has been deceptively indoctrinated by the devil to always make us fail and keep striving for a goal we will never attain. God only analyses if we are functioning with Him or functioning to be perfect. When we function with Him then the burden to be perfect is not ours. When we face challenges or difficulties, if we focus on the kind of character we are developing through that process and remain truthful before God, rather than worrying about how others see or value us, then half the burden will be lifted from us. Under any circumstance, our character is what gets graded, not the results we produce. We need to get into the habit of working from our souls unto God instead of working from our hands unto man. Do we give our best with all that we have? Are we sincere, truthful, and dedicated at all times? God judges us based on that, and when we focus only on those things, He will take care of the rest.

Daily Devotional: God Who “Remembers”

Scripture Focus: Deuteronomy 31:6

We see that Scripture often keeps using this phrase: “God remembered.” He remembered Noah drifting on endless waters. He remembered Israel crying out in Egypt. He remembered Rachel in her long ache for a child. At first glance, “remembered” sounds like God might have forgotten for a while. But in the Bible, when God “remembers,” it means He moves toward His people with fresh mercy and decisive action. It is His way of saying, “Now, I’m stepping in.”

We spend so much energy trying not to forget what matters. Yet, the Holy Spirit has a way of helping us hold on to what’s essential and letting the rest fade. He loosens our grip on our old wounds, legalistic voices, and memories that used to cut deep. Sometimes, it seems like our memory fails us regarding past tragedies, but even this forgetfulness becomes a gift, a quiet healing.

But can God forget? In a holy sense, yes. He “forgets” our sins—not by erasing His knowledge of our sins, but by choosing not to treat us according to what we have done. His forgetfulness is grace, not a lapse.

And then, there are those seasons that feel like heat without relief. Isaiah paints the picture of God as a refiner of silver and gold. In that fire, nothing around us seems to shift. The pressure stays. The flames stay. Life feels stuck. That’s often the moment when it seems as if God has stepped away. But a refiner never leaves the metal unattended. He keeps His eyes fixed on it, waiting for the moment He can see His own reflection.

That’s the heart behind this promise in Deuteronomy: “Be strong and take courage; do not fear, neither be terrified of them, for it is Jehovah your God who goes with you; He will not fail you nor forsake you.” It is a reminder that God’s attention has not drifted, even for a second. His presence may feel quiet, but it is steady. He is shaping and polishing. And when His character shines back from your life, He knows the refining has done its work. Then, He lifts you from the fire and forms you into something meant for His glory. If the heat feels intense right now, don’t assume you have been abandoned. The fire does not mean rejection. It is transformation. And the One who watches over you remembers you still.

Reflection for Today

God’s quiet does not mean He is absent, but it is the steady watch of the Refiner who never leaves the fire. Today, rest in the promise that you are seen, remembered, and held. Trust that the work He began in you is still unfolding with purpose.

Prayer

O Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before You. Though You call us to walk by faith and not by sight, many times our eyes have been too limited to see Your glory and Your power, and we have instead leaned on our weaknesses, our past wounds, and our fears. Teach us again that You are the Lord God who creates all things out of nothing. Comfort us, Lord, and steady us with Your strong hand. Let Your healing flow through us so that we may shine as light in the darkness. In Jesus Christ’s name, we pray. Amen.

Daily Take Away

God’s “remembering” is His way of moving toward us with mercy, purpose, and renewed action, not because He had forgotten. Even when life feels like a refining fire, God’s presence is constant, shaping and purifying us for His glory. Forgetfulness in us, at times, is also needed for our healing. It is a gift that frees us from past pain and allows healing to take root. Though we may not always see it, God’s attention never drifts, and His love never fails or forsakes us. Our calling is to trust Him in the process, knowing that the fire is for transformation and not abandonment.

Daily Devotional : Intentions Aren’t Enough
Scripture Focus: 2 Samuel 6:6,7

Jesus Christ said, I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6) This seems simple to hear but is hard to live out. We like to think our good intentions count for something — that if our hearts are in the right place, God will understand. But, Scripture shows that good motives alone are not always enough for us to line up with God’s way.

Take Uzzah in 2 Samuel, chapter 6. The Ark of God was being carried, and when the oxen stumbled, Uzzah reached out to steady it. Seems harmless, even honorable, right? But God struck him down. Not because Uzzah was wicked, but because he acted outside of God’s command. His heart meant well, but his hands moved ahead of God’s way.

That story shakes me up a bit. It reminds us how easy it is to trust our feelings over God’s word. The devil loves that. He’d rather have us rely on what “feels right” than what “is right”. But our hearts, as Scripture says, are already corrupted by sin. So, no matter how sincere we are, something born out of a broken heart can’t produce the holiness God requires.

That’s why we need Jesus Christ. Our intentions can’t save us, only His blood does. He steps into the mess we can’t fix and makes a new way forward. In Isaiah 45:2, God promises, “I will go before you and make the rough places smooth; I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through the bars of iron.” That’s His voice saying, “Let Me lead. You follow.”

So don’t let good intentions become your excuse. Instead, keep your eyes on Jesus Christ. Follow His way, even when it cuts across what feels natural. That’s where the real joy begins — not the fleeting joy of “getting it right,” but the deep, lasting joy of salvation.

Reflection for Today

Are my intentions guided by the Word and the Spirit of Jesus Christ? Do my actions flow from His truth, and not my own reasoning? Do I find satisfaction in getting things right or in surrendering to Him and waiting upon Him?

Prayer

Oh, Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I come before the throne of Grace for your mercies. Help me to give priority to Your way above my own intentions. Let Your name alone be glorified through my life as I reflect Your character. Lord, I know my desires are not enough to please you. Grant me the grace to seek the way of Christ each day, and not to use my intentions as an excuse. I submit myself to You, like clay in the potter’s hand. In Jesus Christ’s name I pray, Amen.

Daily Takeaway

Even the best intentions can miss God’s heart when they come from our own understanding. The story of Uzzah reminds us that meaning well is not the same as walking in obedience. Jesus Christ calls us to follow His way, not just with good motives, but with surrendered steps.
